Baumit on the Web

Baumit is a well-known name in the construction industry: the company is present in 26 countries across Europe and has been a key player in the market of façade systems, plasters, and color solutions for more than three decades. When Baumit was looking for a partner to implement its new international website – one that is unified yet locally adaptable – it was a special honor for us, as a Hungarian company, to win this project as the Pentacom team.

The Challenge

Baumit needed to address three very different target groups simultaneously: homeowners, architects, and construction professionals. And all this across 26 different markets, where user habits, product availability, and content priorities can vary significantly. The challenge was to build an international platform that rests on a common foundation, but can still flexibly adapt to the specific needs of each country.

The Solution

For the project, we used the Laravel framework, which allowed us to deliver a stable, scalable, and secure system. Drawing on our team’s experience with CQ5 and CQ6, we designed an architecture that provides both centralized control and local editing flexibility.

We paid special attention to design and user experience. The website features a modern, clean look that brings a sense of elegance and lightness rarely seen in the construction sector. The updated navigation system is more transparent, logical, and faster, supporting all target groups in finding the content most relevant to them with ease.

The World of Colors

One of the key highlights of this year’s development was showcasing Baumit’s more than 1,000 colors. Presenting such a vast range in an enjoyable and user-friendly way posed a major UX and technical challenge. We developed a system that allows users to smoothly filter through color categories while exploring the palette in a visually inspiring way.

Colors were also linked to reference projects, enabling users to see not just the shades on a palette, but also how they appear on real buildings with different façade structures. This feature provides invaluable support for both designers and contractors in the decision-making process.

Results

The new Baumit website has created a unified, modern, and user-friendly platform that simultaneously serves the needs of the international brand and the specific characteristics of local markets. The content provided is truly valuable for both homeowners and professional audiences. The interactive color selector has received particularly positive feedback, as it makes one of Baumit’s greatest strengths – the diversity of its color world – tangible and accessible.

A Source of Pride

As a Hungarian development company, it was an honor for us to lead the modernization of Baumit’s European online presence. We believe that this project sets a benchmark not only for Baumit, but for digital communication in the entire construction industry.
